Making their debut on Siempre En Domingo, the Spanish indie-rock band Vetusta Morla presents their newest single, “Finisterre”. They just released the video to the single and it is getting tons of views on YouTube.
I took a moment to listen to the new track and like most critics, I like what I hear. This is a good sign for the upcoming release of their newest album. “Finisterre” is the first single from the upcoming album, Cable A Tierra, which is scheduled to be released at the end of 2021. The song has a electronic feel to it but it doesn’t flow like a dance track. They lyrics are stiff and direct as if the lead singer is reading his lyrics to you with music in the background.
Since this is the first time we have presented Vetusta Morla on this website, a little background I think is needed. We found this band on Twitter, which is a great place to find new music. Vetusta Morla came together in 1998. Their name came from the turtle in Michael Ende’s The Neverending Story. Morla is the name of the turtle, and “Vetusta” means, extremely old. So, it works. The band formed their own little indie label but since the band’s popularity has taken off, their music is now being distributed by Sony Music Spain. This kind of makes them NOT an indie band.
With what I have heard with this single, I feel good about going backwards to the band’s early years. I want to explore the music of Vetusta Morla. Tell me what you think of the single. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
