You may not see a lot of Shakira on this website because shortly after the album, El Dorado, she went into a direction that really didn’t fit the website. With the new look and spirit of Siempre En Domingo, I are going to look more at music that the world classifies as “pop”. Shakira might still go away because she is more of a English-language artist even though she is a Latina. Because I did feel I wanted to review more singles and more “pop” music, I am giving Shakira another chance.
“Don’t Wait Up” is the first single from upcoming album, which I think is number 12 on her discography. Don’t quote me on that number. When I turned on the song, I thought I was going to be disappointed in it like I am with most of Shakira’s new music. I have not agreed with most of the collaborations and have been disappointed to see that Shakira seriously go the urban route. Where is my old Pies Descalzos (Barefeet)Â singing Shakira?
Back to what I was saying. “Don’t Wait Up” is not urban at all. She has gone back to pop music. The sounds is poppy, electronic, dancey, and fun. I am pleased to hear a song from Shakira again that I like. If the upcoming album is anything like this song, I think I might be pleased. Okay, Shakira… make me a believer, again.
