When I listened to this week’s New Music playlist by Apple Music, Paula Mattheus’s “Chica Formal” was recommended. Apple knows me so well. “Chica Formal” is right up my alley in music. The song has a classic chick rock feel similar to that of singers like Alih Jey.
This Spanish indie artist steps from her town of Bilbao to big city, Madrid, to take a stab at a music career and she already has a handful of singles on digital platforms. Listening to Paula Mattheus’s other tracks, along with “Chica Formal”, you hear strong vocals. Her songs are heavy vocals with music that is just pure and without gimmicks. That is a good sound from a singer-songwriter because its about her and the lyrics.
Looking forward to hearing a full album if these singles are a sample of what is to come. Take a listen to Paula Mattheus and let us know what you think, here or on our social media outlets.
