Call me bias if you want, but with Primera Fila, Alejandra Guzman has never been better and it is great that she is back. For those who followed her recent drama, Alejandra had been hospitalized off and on since 2009 for bad plastic surgery. Alejandra talks about it in the documentary for the Primera Fila DVD. After many surgeries to solve the problems, Alejandra shows that nothing can slow her down.
La Guzman’s last studio album was in 2009, where she released “Unico”. Since then, she released a live album in 2011 with the Mexican rock band, Moderatto. In 2011, Alejandra didn’t sound as good as she does now. It’s almost like a new Alej.
During this Primera Fila, Alejandra performs a mixture of old and new songs, including duets with Mario Domm, Fonseca, Beatriz Luengo, Draco Rosa (Ex-Menudo Robby Rosa), and Dani Martin. Some of the best songs on the album are the first song, “Como Ladrones”, “Aunque Me Mientes” with Dani Martin, though fans seem to like the cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower” with Draco. Her new version of “Eternamente Bella” is pretty damn good too.
I hope we get to see Alejandra Guzman back in the studio soon with another album that is as good as this musically and vocally. Alejandra still has a ton more years for us and with the new music that we hear on this album, we know it should be good.
