In 2005, La Casa Azul followed up their second album Tan Simple Como El Amor, with an EP that featured 4 tracks, 3 of which were new to fans of this odd little project from Spain.
The song “Como Un Fan” was featured on the previous album, but the other three songs on this EP were brand new. The first song, “Viva (un Poco Más) el Amor” is a bit harder than what we have heard previously. There are a little less “sunshine pop” to the song and a bit more drums to lift this song up to more pop music.
“DeberÃa Plantearme Cambiar (I should consider changing)” follows the same pattern as the previous song. We are seeing the music change with the time, almost like the band began in the ’60s and this is just progressing through the decade. I am hearing an evolution here. It’s still great fun, but I don’t feel like it is as old as other songs.
“Viaje a los Sueños Polares (Journey to the Polar Dreams)” starts off with almost a Cuban island feel. Ricky Ricardo with I Love Lucy? It’s so hard to describe what I hear and how it compares to what is going on around in the world. While we had those island feels at the beginning, that is not how it ends. I feel like I am on a roller coaster. So many ups and downs, the g-forces are spinning around with this doo-wop-infused track.
And then we have “Como Un Fan (Like a fan)” which talks about being a fan of someone. There is nothing better than being a fan and when you’re a fan of someone like this band, you think everything they do is cool and the best ever. I think I am slowly becoming a big fan of this “band”, or can we say Guille Milkyway. I think I may need to scream. Someone lend we some pre-recorded screaming girl tracks so I can be like La Casa Azul, too.
This is the EP of Como Un Fan. I dig it…
